This black tea hails from the Nilgiris Mountains of Tamil Nadu, India, where it’s cultivated at an elevation of 2,000 meters (6,800 feet). Grown on a small, family-run farm, the tea is produced using all-natural, organic methods rooted in traditional Indian agriculture. The farmers employ Panchagavya, an Ayurvedic plant-based mixture made from local cow products and garden soil, which serves as both a natural fertilizer and a pest deterrent. The region’s high elevation, rich volcanic soil, and abundant monsoon rains create ideal growing conditions. Each leaf is carefully hand-harvested, withered immediately, and processed in small batches to preserve its exceptional freshness and quality.
